Foster care is always an option for you and your child. After you give birth if you are unsure of what would be best for you and your child, and do not feel you can care for your child you may place him/her in foster care. Foster care however, is not a permanent solution; but it may provide you more time to think and make a final decision.
For example if you were unable to work at the end of your pregnancy and therefore can not provide for your child, you may place your child into foster care until you are able to provide a safe environment for them to come home too. Also, if parenting ends up not being for you, you may place your child in foster care until you are able to find an appropriate adoptive family.
